Mission Statement

The Orientation Program at Cal Maritime is carefully designed to introduce incoming cadets to their new role by sharing resources and strategies that set the tone for academic success, personal growth and meaningful connections. 

Goals for achieving our mission:

• Aid new Cadets in making the transition from their previous environment to Cal Maritime and facilitate their sense of belonging 
• Acquaint incoming Cadets with the mission, values, vision, programs, and history of the Academy 
• Familiarize new Cadets with campus resources and expectations that will enhance their academic and social success
• Facilitate development of Cadet camaraderie, within their program, school, and across campus 

We strive to achieve these outcomes from the Orientation Program:

• Identify and apply responsibilities, resources, and self-awareness necessary for success at Cal Maritime
• Report a sense of belonging and connection with Cal Maritime
• Explain four points of the Academy’s mission compass
• Begin the semester with a complete and correct schedule
• Affirm their decision to attend Cal Maritime
