This applies to any operating systems and applications and verify that the auto-update setting is enabled when available.

To avoid accidental clicks on or within popups, it is best to prevent them from appearing in the first place.

Back up, verify, and maintain offline copies of your personal and application data.  If your computer becomes compromised, it has limited impact on you - you can simply have your system wiped clean and then reload your files.
