By opening a stored value account, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

Replacement Fee:

There is a $10.00 replacement fee for lost, stolen or damaged Cal Maritime Portpasss. Do not punch holes in, staple, or fold your card. The replacement fee will be applied for all damaged card other than normal wear and tear. There is no fee for replacing a Cal Maritime Portpass for reasons of a legal name change. However, a student must have their name officially changed at Admissions and Records or for faculty and for staff at Human Resources. Once the name changed is reflected in the campus carding system, a new Cal Maritime Portpass will be provided at no charge. Using the Cal Maritime Portpass of another person, allowing your Cal Maritime Portpass to be used by another person or altering or intentionally mutilating the Cal Maritime Portpass is prohibited. If you are an employee, your Cal Maritime Portpass must be returned to the University as part of the property clearance process.

Account Administration:

The Cal Maritime Enterprise Services and Financial Services administers the University's various stored value accounts. Funds deposited are referred to as "Sand Dollar." Cal Maritime Portpasss are issued using your campus ID number. Specialty and meal cards are issued using a unique 9-digit number.

Nature of the Account:

Your card acts as a stored value account ("Account"); it is not a credit card. No negative balances, cash withdrawals or cash advances are permitted. The University accepts and holds prepaid funds, and applies these funds to purchases of goods and services made with your Account. Other than Cal Maritime Portpass Account closing and refund fees, the University will not charge any fees for the use of your Account. Account balances do not accrue interest or other earnings.

Establishing an Account Balance:

Deposits can be made using cash, debit card or credit cards (Discover, MasterCard, Visa and American Express). There is no minimum balance; however, the University may set a maximum Account balance.

Negative Accounts:

If an Accepting Location attempts to process a transaction for more than the funds available in your Sand Dollar account, the transaction will be declined. If for any reason a transaction is processed for more than the value in the Sand Dollar account, you are liable for the entire amount, and agree to pay the amount immediately on demand. We reserve the right to add a charge to your Cal Maritime student account, place a hold on your student account, which will suspend most campus services, and suspend your Cal Maritime accounts until payment of the negative account is made in whole.

Accessing an Account and Responsibility for purchases made:

You may use your Cal Maritime Portpass Account to purchase goods and services at authorized University establishments. You are responsible for all purchases made from your Account. Do not give your card to anyone. Report lost or stolen Cal Maritime Portpasss Campus IT or Enterprise Service IS team immediately and/or use the Cal Maritime Eaccounts mobile application/website to deactivate the card immediately.

You can obtain an electronic record of your Account transactions via Eaccounts mobile application or website. DRAFT

Disclosure to third parties:

Your Account information will be released only as permitted by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, California's Information Practices Act, Title 5 of California's Code of Regulations, and /or any other applicable law. California Law governs these terms and conditions.
