Transferring into Oceanography
Transfer Application Information
Admission Requirements
Lower-Division Transfer (students with fewer than 60 semester or 90 quarter units transferable to Cal Maritime)
- Be in "good standing" (such as not being expelled, on suspension, and on probation) at all colleges you have attended
- The following two courses, completed with a C- or better, are required:
- A college-level math course (CSU GE area B4) completed within five years of the intended term of entry. Pre-calculus is recommended.
- A college-level English course (CSU GE area A2)
- All other CSU eligibility requirements for freshmen regarding high school grades/courses and standardized test scores required for oceanography must be met. High School grades and test scores will be used for comparison to similar applicants to the same program
- The overall college GPA must be at least a 2.00.
- Applicants are recommended to submit a resume soon after applying that includes the applicant's background connected to leadership and/or related to oceanography
Upper-Division Transfer (students with 60 or more semester or 90 or more quarter units transferable to Cal
Maritime)
- Be in "good standing" (such as not being expelled, on suspension, and on probation) at all colleges you have attended
- These four courses, completed with a C- or better, are required:
- A college-level math course (CSU GE area B4) completed within five years of the intended term of entry. Pre-calculus is recommended.
- A college-level composition English course (CSU GE area A2)
- A "Critical Thinking" course (CSU GE area A3)
- An "Oral Communication" course (CSU GE area A1)
- The overall college GPA must be at least a 2.00
- Applicants are recommended to submit a resume soon after applying that includes the applicant's background connected to leadership and/or related to oceanography.
Semester-by-Semester Curriculum
Spring term applications will be accepted starting August 1st each year.
Fall term applications will be accepted starting October 1st each year.

We can look it up for you and give you an evaluation. You can also ask something like "is it course A, B, or C that satisfies your requirement?"
