Tutee Expectations and Responsibilities
Tutee Responsibilities and Expectations
Want to know how to prepare for a tutoring session? Check out these Dos and Don'ts!
- DO Study your class material and attempt the homework/problems. Try to identify specific questions or concepts you need to address during the tutorial session.
- DO Expect the tutor to ask you questions about your study habits, what you know so far, and how you might approach a problem. They do this to find out what you understand, and to provide you with information and strategies tailored to your individual needs.
- DO Expect the tutor to suggest general strategies for studying, time management, and test prep. These strategies will help in all of your courses.
- DON’T wait until the day before the test or the day before an assignment is due to seek assistance. Though our tutors are amazing, they cannot make up for a week’s worth of studying in one hour.
- DO Treat the tutor with respect and kindness. The tutor is there to help you. So please do not raise your voice or get angry with your tutor. Additionally, any macro or microaggressions, specifically any derogatory comments relating to gender, race, ability, sexuality, or any other identities a student holds, will not be tolerated. Comments of this nature could result in an investigation and a revoking of tutoring privileges.
- DON’T cancel last minute, or no-show. It shows a disrespect for our tutors if you don’t show up, or you cancel at the last minute. It also makes it difficult for other students to make appointments when you take a slot you don’t intend to use.
