What is Affordable Learning Solutions (AL$)?

The high cost of textbooks hurts students' education and impacts their ability to graduate. In order to address this problem, Cal Maritime has joined the CSU's Affordable Learning Solutions Campaign, which increases faculty awareness of Open Educational Resources (OER) and other textbook alternatives, in order to lower costs for students.

Affordable learning materials provide many ways to improve teaching and learning. On the most basic level, adopting no or low-cost materials increases the likelihood that your students will acquire course materials and be ready on the first day of class.

Busy students need and appreciate cost and format choices (online content, ebooks, print), with affordability and ease of access being key factors.
