The Corps of Cadets

Formation with cadets  1939 formation

For almost a century, California State University Maritime Academy has been developing leaders. A staple to the Cal Maritime experience is the being part of the Corps of Cadets. This unique structure puts day-to-day responsibility and accountability into the hands of cadets.

At Cal Maritime, it is a privilege to be a cadet and with that, comes pride and responsibility. A Cal Maritime cadet is asked to do more, is held to higher standards of personal conduct and professionalism, and is given more responsibility. Our campus is a leadership laboratory that puts cadets in charge of their experience. When a cadet graduates from Cal Maritime, they will be ready to step into any professional setting as not an employee, but as a leader.

Cal Maritime has four primary cadet groups charged with leadership and professional development. These groups include the Corps Staff, Associated Students, Residence Life, and the Student Athlete Council. Although each of these groups has a different focus, they work together to represent all cadets to foster a respectful, professional learning environment.
