Aloha~

We arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii this morning and are ready to kick off a fun three days in port. Arrival days are always exciting - especially when it is a place you haven't been before, or a place you call home like many of our cadets aboard TSGB.

Manning the rails

All cadets who are not on watch are required to man the rails as we arrive in each port.

Capt Bannister and Hawaii Pilots :)

Thank you to our awesome pilots, Capt. David Thompson and Capt. David Oh for ensuring a safe transit to our berth.

FRB

Our team of cadet linehandlers went ashore on the Fast Rescue Boat (FRB) to prepare to tie up the ship. This is a good exercise for the cadets and gives them the opportunity to practice different aspects of shipboard operations. We rotate through stations from port to port, so many of these cadets will get the chance to be on the bridge, participate in mooring or linehandling operations, and work with the crane to lower the gangway upon arrival (all pictured below) throughout Summer Sea Term.

Fair winds and following seas!

Check back often and follow the voyage with our blog series that gives the latest news from Summer Sea Term! TSGB will travel to Honolulu, HI, Busan, South Korea, Yokohama, Japan, and Los Angeles, CA prior to returning to Vallejo on August 5th.

Stay tuned for updates to the Follow the Voyage blog.
