Ahoy!

We have set our clocks back gradually over the last week and are finally in the same time zone as Honolulu. The weather is fantastic - sun is shining, air is a bit humid, and we are all ready to be in port for the next few days.

Great news - we have our first fish of Summer Sea Term! Cadet Django Knafo-Tomlinson caught this 45 inch Wahoo while underway this morning. For those who are new to Follow the Voyage, fishing off of the fantail is a cherished pastime for cadets. There were many fish caught on the way to and from Samoa last year, and we are looking forward to more tasty fish this summer.

In other news, it's not all play and no work aboard TSGB - Cadets have been quite busy preparing the ship for our arrival in port tomorrow. From navigation briefs to port briefs, to wrapping up engineering tasks and putting together mooring teams, it's been a long end to the first full week underway. The days are long, but we try to keep it fun.

Port Brief for Honolulu

Mandatory Port Briefs are held for all divisions prior to our arrival in each port. Port Briefs include information like safety tips, liberty rules, and suggestions for fun things to do, see, and eat locally.

Mooring line prep for arrival

Cadets stayed busy all day preparing mooring lines for our arrival tomorrow.

On that note, be sure to look us up on Marine Traffic or Vessel Finder (Marine Traffic is displayed on the TSGB Summer Sea Term page) to track us in real time as we make our way to the Far East.

Fair winds and following seas!

Check back often and follow the voyage with our blog series that gives the latest news from Summer Sea Term! TSGB will travel to Honolulu, HI, Busan, South Korea, Yokohama, Japan, and Los Angeles, CA prior to returning to Vallejo on August 5th.

Stay tuned for updates to the Follow the Voyage blog.
