Ahoy!

We all had a wonderful time in Busan, and while it was sad to go, we had another port to look forward to: Yokohama, Japan. We departed Busan on July 8th and arrived in Yokohama the morning of July 10th, so it was a quick turnaround. On our voyage to Yokohama, we sailed through the Kanmon Straits, also known as Straits of Shimonoseki. This scenic passage is about a mile wide and has a lot of vessel traffic, so we had a pilot aboard for much of the voyage to Yokohama. It was pretty foggy for much of it, but the heat and humidity were still intense, so cadets and crew made sure to stay hydrated and take breaks indoors with the air conditioning.

Needless to say, visiting these two ports was the peak of Summer Sea Term, and cadets were excited to explore Japan. Yokohama is a short train ride to Tokyo (if you don't get lost on the train) so many had plans to explore the two cities.
