Cruise 2023 day seven - weather is getting warmer and the sun is coming out. We are finally in Mexico! We are currently hanging around the southern coast of Baja California as we must wait until tomorrow to pull into port.
Plan of the day includes daywork, watch rotations, and classes for all cadets, faculty and crew, and conducting fire and abandon ship drills after lunch. While underway, we conduct fire, abandon ship, and man overboard drills on a regular basis to keep the information fresh.
Below are some photos of a typical Monday in the engine room, or EOS. Just like the bridge and other areas of the ship, there is always someone standing watch down in the EOS. Engineers are a very important part of a ship's crew, as they literally keep our engines running, and keep the ship operating at tip-top shape. If something mechanical or electrical gets broken or stops working, an engineer will likely be the person that fixes it.
