Today is our second day in Hawaii. Everyone is enjoying the unique views of the coast. The weather has been calm, the only part that some people might not like is the humidity.

Out on deck cadets were busy repainting some small areas. The spots that were getting repainted received a new coat of bright yellow paint. The reason these were repainted is to highlight that these are tripping hazards. The main cargo hatch also received a new yellow border.

Some deck cadets were seen in the bridge simulator. This places them in real world scenarios without the risk. Watching the simulator in action is unique because it seems very real. During the simulation there is a lot that could go wrong, all of which are possibilities when in command of a vessel.

In the engine room the cadets were busy at work. The cadets had many jobs in the space some were checking the oil levels in the machinery. Others were cleaning the deck and residual oils off. In either case the engine room was a busy place. It was made more difficult with the water temperature around the ship, this is because it made the space even hotter.

We finished the day by sailing around the Big Island, tomorrow we are going towards, Maui, Lanai, and Kahoolawe. Each of these islands will provide some very beautiful and interesting landscapes!
