Jenny Murphy is a geochemical oceanographer and a Lecturer in the Sciences and Mathematics
Department at Cal Maritime. Dr. Murphy's research interests are primarily focused
on carbon and nutrient cycling.
Dr. Murphy has a diverse research background, including experience working in deep
sea hydrothermal vent systems with the ROV JASON and oxidation-reduction chemistry
in permeable sediments at a near shore cabled observatory on Oahu. She has worked
in salt marshes around the San Francisco Estuary and Hawaiian Fishponds on Oahu, examining
the impact of photosynthetic organisms on nutrient cycling near the sediment-water
interface.
