We landed at the Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport a little after 9am on May 6th and headed directly to Rabat. After about an hour drive from Casablanca, we made it to our first city: Rabat, the capital of Morocco. We had a wonderful and delicious traditional Moroccan lunch and met with our local guides, Rachid and Widad, for our first Morocco orientation!
After lunch, we drove to the meeting spot to meet our host families that we will be
staying with during our entire stay in Rabat. Cal Maritime students were divided into
smaller groups and assigned to a host family. The home stay experience is a highlight
of the IE trip as we get to experience Moroccan culture and lifestyles right in front
of our eyes, a one of a kind experience!
