Save the date for the 13th Annual Woman in Maritime Leadership (WML) Conference on March 15-16, 2024.

Last year, we marked 50 years since the first women were admitted to Cal Maritime during our annual WML Conference. This year, we are continuing the tradition of delivering an equity-focused leadership development curriculum specific to the goals of cadets and professional women in the maritime industry.

The 2023 conference featured Vice Admiral Joanna Nunan, superintendent of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., as its opening speaker. The conference brought together cadets from five different academies and provided a unique opportunity for current and future leaders in the maritime profession to gather and discuss equity-focused leadership. This leadership development event is designed to encourage future maritime leaders to confront and focus on the issues of gender equity, career planning, and amplifying the voices of women and members of the LGBTQ+ community through personal insight, resilience, and overall personal empowerment.

For the first time in 2024, sponsors at the Platinum level are eligible to host a showcase session during the conference.

Students, staff, alumni, and industry partners are welcome to join the WML Planning team as we begin preparation for another amazing conference that is sure to be a memorable experience for attendees in 2024.
