(Vallejo, California – February 22, 2018) – From modern, animated fantasy films to white-knuckle documentary adventures, Cal Maritime's 2018 Maritime Film Festival has something for everyone. This year's films include:
 
March 8 Dunkirk – The 2017 film depicting the Dunkirk evacuation of World War II from three perspectives: land, sea, and air. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Introduced by Dr. Sarah Senk.
 
March 15 Losing Sight of Shore – A documentary that follows the extraordinary journey of four brave women that set out to row the Pacific Ocean from America to Australia unsupported. Introduced by director Sarah Moshman.
 
March 22 Moana – Disney's animated musical fantasy-adventure featuring the story of the strong-willed daughter of a Polynesian village chief, chosen by the ocean to reunite a mystical relic and a goddess. Introduced by Dr. Katherine Sammler.
 
March 29 The Abyss – When an American submarine sinks in the Caribbean, a U.S. search and recovery team works with an oil platform crew, racing against Russians to recover the vessel. Deep in the ocean, they encounter something unexpected.  Written and directed by James Cameron. Introduced by Dr. Amy Parsons.
 
The Maritime Film Festival is free and open to the public. All movies will be introduced by expert faculty at 7 p.m. in Rizza Auditorium on the campus of Cal Maritime. Free parking will be available in lots A and D. For directions and map of campus, visit www.csum.edu/map.
