CSU, California Maritime Academy has joined a coalition of Solano County educational and service community organizations to host a free screening of the documentary "Miss Representation." The screening will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in Cal Maritime's Rizza Auditorium.

Currently, Cal Maritime is the only East Bay area venue that is hosting a screening of this landmark documentary examining the ways mainstream media portrayals of women contributes to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence. A panel discussion featuring successful women leaders will following the screening to explore the ways women can overcome gender-biased societal and institutional barriers.

Cal Maritime's coalition partners include: Benicia-Vallejo AAUW, Benicia Unified School District, Benicia League of Women Voters, Solano Community College, Soroptimist International of Benicia, and Vallejo City Unified School District.
