Commercial Cruise

To most the Commercial Cruise program is a keystone event during your training here at Cal Maritime. It is your chance to get real world experience aboard a commercially operated vessel. Commercial Cruise or Cadet Shipping occurs during your sophomore summer.  Deck Caders are required to sail a minimum of 100 days. Engine Cadets are required to obtain a minimum of 60 days of sea time.  The training and experience that you will receive during your sea time on a commercial vessel varies greatly with the type of trade in which the vessel is engaged, as well as the ship's schedule and crew.

See the documents to the right for more information on the Commercial Cruise Cadet Shipping Program.  If you have further questions please come into the Career Center or call us at 707-654-1071.
