How can I apply?
Apply online at www.csumentor.edu. There is a $55.00 application fee required when you submit the online application.
Do you have articulation agreements with any community colleges?
While Cal Maritime accepts courses and transfer students from all accredited colleges, we currently have articulation agreements with the following community colleges for the majors listed after each:
- City College of San Francisco - Business Administration / International Business & Logistics
- College of the Redwoods (Eureka, CA) - Facilities Engineering Technology
- Delta College (Stockton, CA) - Business Administration / International Business & Logistics
- Diablo Valley College (Concord, CA) - Business Administration / International Business & Logistics
- Napa Valley College - Business Administration / International Business & Logistics
- Solano College (Fairfield, CA) - Business Administration / International Business & Logistics
Does Cal Maritime have a degree that guarantees it will only take 60 more semester units to finish my major once I have transferred?
Yes - Our BS in Business Administration / International Business and Logistics
- Students who graduate from the following community colleges with a Business Administration Transfer AA Degree will only need to complete 60 more semester units at Cal Maritime to receive a BS in Business Administration / International Business and Logistics. Other AA degrees at those same community colleges do not carry the same benefit.

Transfer facts:
- Cal Maritime accepts both lower and upper division transfer students
- 40% of the entering class are transfer students
- An Associate’s Degree is not required for transferring.
- Several majors require a four-year commitment of study even if you have completed a Bachelor’s Degree and/or have many transfer units. This is due to the specialized nature of coursework at Cal Maritime.
Lower Division Transfers
Define “Lower Division Transfer.”
Applicants who have completed fewer than 60 semester units (90 quarter units) by the time they plan to enter the California Maritime Academy will be considered Lower Division Transfer Students.
What items are required for your office to make an admission decision?
A completed online application, the $55.00 application fee, an official high school transcript, all official college transcripts, an SAT or ACT score (recommended for all – required for some).
Lower Division Transfer Student Admission Requirements
1. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative College GPA (2.4 for non-California residents) and be in good academic standing at the last college attended. The Minimum GPA requirement for fall 2013 in our recently “impacted” Marine Transportation applicants will be adjusted higher based on the quantity and academic quality of the transfer applicants.
Fulfill first-time freshman eligibility index and all CSU/UC a-g college prep requirements through high school and, if necessary, college coursework.

All Marine Transportation applicants must submit SAT or ACT scores.All Marine Transportation applicants have the option to submit a resume including leadership and seamanship experiences. If submitted, the resume may be considered in the evaluation process.
Applicants to all other majors must also submit SAT or ACT scores unless high school GPA was above 3.0
2. Take and pass with a “C” grade or better the following courses:
- English Composition (fulfilling CSU General Education requirement A2)
- Any college level math course (fulfilling CSU General Education requirement B4). A pre-calculus course is highly recommended for all majors.
- Applicants applying for Mechanical Engineering must complete the pre-requisite course to calculus.
Upper Division Transfers
Define “Upper Division Transfer.”
Applicants who have completed more than 60 semester units (90 quarter units) by the time they plan to enter the California Maritime Academy are considered Upper Division Transfer Students.
