Training and Professional Development
At CMA, training encompasses a variety of topics that address employees' professional and personal needs and provides management training of both professional and supervisory skills. The campus-wide workshop schedule provides an "at a glance" view of training activities scheduled throughout the year.
The Department of Human Resources is able to provide on-going customized training to meet individual university division and departmental needs.
In addition, we highly encourage employees to take advantage of the on-line training programs available to all CMA employees.
Atomic Learning is a comprehensive library of complete video tutorials ranging in topics from Microsoft Word and Photoshop to How to Create an Online Class. Each topic is divided into short 3 minute segments so you can quickly find answers specific questions. Users can track and record their progress as well as assign training to themselves and others.
GCF Computer Training offers free computer tutorials to help you learn, review, or gain more 21st century skills ranging from Basics to Microsoft Office to Apple.

Professional Development Programs
New Employee Training
The following trainings may be required as a condition of employment at CMA.
- Conflict of Interest/Ethics Training Individuals who, in the course of their employment, make decisions that could have financial consequences and could result in conflict of interest are required to complete a statement of economic interests and take an on-line ethics training course.
- Sexual Harassment Prevention (SHP) Training – Individuals who have supervisory authority and/or serve in a MPP management positions are required to take an on-line SHP training
- Defensive Driver Training – Employees who drive on behalf of the University in the course of their employment, may be required to take defensive driver training, and authorize the University to obtain their DMV driving records.
- Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA)- Employees with access to student data in course of their employment shall receive training regarding adherence to federal legislation governing the confidentiality of student records. - Background Check/ Fingerprinting - Employees whose positions are considered “sensitive” such as those working with minor children, handling cash or financial resources, holding master keys, and those with access to personally identifiable information etc. may be subject to fingerprinting.
