Information Technology Department supports the vision and mission of The California Maritime Academy through the application and integration of technology across the curriculum and business processes.  IT provides secure, reliable and stable network and digital services to support the Academy's business practices, enterprise activities and its central work of learning, discovery and engagement.

The IT Team has been full speed ahead these past few months and I want to give you an update on our latest endeavors.  Due to budget constraints and limited resources, IT has been working on cost reduction strategies and improving business processes.

Ø  Track-IT!:  New IT Support Center ticket system

Ø  Computer Refresh:  Replacement of computers older than 4 years old

Ø  Microsoft 365: Exchange Online -> email to the cloud

Ø  VoIP:  Voice Over IP

Project Timelines

Ø  HCM 9.0 Upgrade: Upgrade from PeopleSoft HCM (Human Capital Management) version 8.9 to version 9.0. Mandated by the CMS Executive Committee, the upgraded system will be faster, more stable and include new functionality for both students and faculty.  Go-live date: June 22, 2012

Ø  Early Start Program: Implemented in PeopleSoft to monitor incoming freshman who have not demonstrated proficiency in English and/or Math and is required to begin remediation at another participating CSU campus or community college. Phase III:  Go-live date: July 2012

Ø  CNI:  Common Network Infrastructure: The program provides for the refresh of each campus network infrastructure on a cyclical basis to ensure that the network infrastructure continues to keep pace with technology and meet the changing needs of CSU students, faculty and staff.

Scheduled go-live date: December 2012

Ø  Mobile Application: Developing a mobile application that will allow users to use their smart devices linking them to the portal and campus resources.

Ø       Restructuring the Communities: restructuring the current communities and refining them to more granular details to assist in better data security, structures and member listings.  

Ø       Internal and External Content: with the new community development, we are making necessary adjustments to pages to ensure pertinent internal information for our intranet (portal) and external information for the internet is displayed.
