Cal Maritime offers a variety of financial aid programs to students needing assistance in financing their education. Funds are made available by the U.S. Department of Education, the State of California, the California State University System, the California Maritime Academy, and private lending institutions. Types of financial assistance include scholarships, grants, loans, and employment opportunities. Assistance can be in the form of need-based or non-need-based sources of financial aid.
To apply for financial aid, students should submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the basic application required for most federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Applications can be submitted beginning January 1 before the start of the academic year (i.e., January 1, 2016, for the 2016-17 school year). You can apply online at www.fafsa.gov. You can also request a paper application by calling 1-800-4FED-AID. The priority filing date is March 2 to maximize your award offers. You can file after March 2, but funding is limited.
The federal school code for Cal Maritime is 001134.
