At Cal Maritime, training encompasses a variety of topics that address employees' professional and personal needs and provides management training of both professional and supervisory skills. 

We highly encourage employees to take advantage of the online training programs available to all Cal Maritime employees.

Skillport Thousands of online courses, books, and videos are now a click away for CSU employees! Once you have opened Skillport by clicking on the link above, you can find courses, books and videos in any of the following ways: 1. From the drop down menu, identify your campus. 2. Input your campus username and password. 3. This will log you into the Skillport homepage.  All assigned courseware will reside under the tab "VIEW MY PLAN".  Browse the Catalog will allow you to browse through the content on the Skillport site or you can use the Search box in the top right hand corner to search for specific courses.  You can also login through the Cal Maritime portal.

New Employee Training

The following trainings may be required as a condition of employment at Cal Maritime.

  • Conflict of Interest/Ethics Training - Individuals who, in the course of their employment, make decisions that could have financial consequences and could result in a conflict of interest are required to complete a statement of economic interests and take an on-line ethics training course.  
  •  
  • Defensive Driver Training - Employees who drive on behalf of the University in the course of their employment may be required to take defensive driver training and authorize the University to obtain their DMV driving records.
  •  
  • Eliminate Campus Sexual Violence - All Employees are required to take this course. 
  •  
  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) - Employees with access to student data in the course of their employment shall receive training regarding adherence to federal legislation governing the confidentiality of student records.
  •  
  • Information/Data Security - All employees with access to protected data and information assets.
  •  
  • Preventing Discrimination and Harassment for Non-Supervisors - All employees except those that have supervisor/lead responsibilities are required to take this course.
  •  
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention (SHP) Training - Individuals who have supervisory authority and/or serve in a MPP management position are required to take an on-line SHP training.
