Earn college credit without admission
Open University allows prospective students and community members to participate in regular university classes on a space available basis at The California Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) without formal admission. Registration is easy– you can usually confirm your space in class at the first meeting.
Classes taken through Open University at Cal Maritime may apply toward your professional skills, your personal interests, or a future degree.
Take Cal Maritime credit courses without being admitted to the University. No transcripts, applications, or other documentation are required. With approval you may apply up to nine credits you earn to a degree later if you wish.
Test a degree program to see if it fits.
Improve your grade point average. If you have been disqualified from Cal Maritime or denied admission because of a grade point deficiency, you can enroll through Open University and get your grade point average where you’d like it to be.
Start accumulating credits, which can apply toward your degree once you are admitted to Cal Maritime. There are limits to the number of Open University courses that can apply to a degree, so check the how many units can be applied.
Program Fees: The fee for Open University is $150 per unit.
