Ben Okazaki, Class of 2006 Marine Transportation
Soon after graduating from the California Maritime Academy (D-06), Ben Okazaki went to work with the Military Sealift Command. Ben has been busy over the last 4 years, quickly moving up the ranks and is currently serving as Chief Mate aboard the USNS Salvor. His travels have taken him to faraway places such as Dubai, Australia, Guam and Palau just to name a few. A word of advice he has for current cadets is to set goals for themselves and to sail on their license as much as possible early in their careers. He says sailing with MSC is not for everyone, but there are a number of opportunities for career driven individuals. In the near future, Ben hopes to obtain his Master’s license and explore the options that will open up.
