Commandant R. Erin Brogan serves as the Commandant of Cadets for Cal Maritime responsible for directing three Company Commandant's and in coordination with the faculty and staff, oversight of the leadership and professional development of the Corps of Cadets.

Before coming to Cal Maritime, he spent 27 years as a Coast Guard Officer in positions of increasing leadership responsibility including Commanding Officer afloat and ashore. Commandant Brogan holds an MS in Instructional Systems from Florida State University, an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a BS in Management from the Coast Guard Academy. 

Lead Company Commandant Palin Berkana-Wycoff serves as the Company Commandant for MPM Company. He is also a member of the International Business and Logistics faculty.

Before coming to Cal Maritime, he spent a decade as an organization development consultant, executive coach, and experiential trainer. He specialized in client projects involving strategy-driven group and individual capacity development, particularly with respect to leadership development and executive leader transitions. In addition to his years consulting, Commandant Berkana-Wycoff has more than thirty years of experience in organizational leadership, including a decade in commercial food production and international supply chain management in the American, European and Australian wine industries as a winemaker and production director. Concurrent with his role at Cal Maritime, Commandant Berkana-Wycoff is a member of the core faculty for the Master of Arts in Organization Development program at Sonoma State University. He teaches a series of 2nd-year courses on Human Systems Redesign, which focuses on culture and its social construction. Commandant Berkana-Wycoff holds an MA in Psychology from Sonoma State University and a BA in Management from SUNY, Empire State College. He served six years as a U.S. Army combat engineer squad leader and, in 1987, was named the Non-commissioned Officer of the Year for the Sixth U.S. Army.

Company Commandant Michael Walker serves as the Deck Company Commandant with responsibility for ensuring the leadership and professional development of the Deck Company, including oversight of watch standing instructions and scheduling.  He is responsible for training cadets on formation, inspection in ranks, and uniform and grooming standards, and for facilitating the Random Drug Testing Program for the Eck Company and the Corps of Cadets. He also serves as a Company Commandant on the Annual Training Cruise. A veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Service and a graduate of the California Maritime Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Commandant Walker has 35 years of combined experience in organizational leadership, production and manufacturing supervision, and teaching middle and high school.   Commandant Walker distinguished himself while attending Cal Maritime by receiving honorary membership into the Sigma Beta Delta Business Society and being the recipient of the William R. Hearst Award for outstanding achievement. He graduated with highest honors.
