Cal Maritime Ranks Highly in Washingon Monthly's Annual College Guide
(Vallejo, California – August 26, 2019) – Washington Monthly's College Guide, which rates schools for their overall contribution to the public good, once again ranks California State University Maritime Academy highly this year for social mobility outcomes, bang for the buck, and nationally among other baccalaureate universities.
In the overall rankings which rated schools on their contribution to the public good, Cal Maritime ranked 11th among all baccalaureate colleges nationally and first in the West. The rankings are based on three categories: social mobility, research, and providing opportunities for public service.
Among baccalaureate colleges in the west, Cal Maritime ranked 15th overall in the publication's "bang for the buck" rankings. These rankings reflect the degree to which schools help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.
"While national rankings are only one measure of a university's outcomes, I am proud to see our University ranked highly for its contribution to the success of our graduates and their continuing contributions to community and the nation," said Cal Maritime President Thomas Cropper. "These rankings reflect the hard work of our faculty, students, and staff."
CNBC ranked Cal Maritime 17th among public universities nationally when comparing graduate salaries to cost of attendance. Money magazine ranked Cal Maritime the number 20 small college in America. The U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard ranks Cal Maritime first among public California universities for graduate earnings 10 years after enrollment.
