Audience Response Systems at Cal Maritime

An Audience Response System (ARS) is a technology for electronically and wirelessly collecting and analyzing student responses to questions posed in the classroom, in real time. Clickers can also be registered to individual students, making it possible to use the technology for low-stakes quizes and attendance taking.

Cal Maritime is currently piloting the use of Turning Technologies' Turning Point Student response systems (clickers).TurningPoint – interactive PowerPoint - is a software add-on to Microsoft® PowerPoint that enables educators, trainers and presenters to develop and administer real-time assessments of participants within their PowerPoint presentations.

Click on here to select and download latest version of TurningPoint based on your Microsoft Office Version. Mac versions are also available.

What type of Response Card should you purchase?

Students should purchase the Response RF card. Currently Cal Maritime does not support the use of Tablets, Cell phones and Smart phones for student response

Where can I purchase a Response Card?

Students can purchase the Response RF card at the Cal Maritime bookstore as well as amazon.com. Used cards can be found through auctions sites such as ebay or through craigslist.org
