Applying for Aid
Cal Maritime offers a variety of financial aid programs to students needing assistance in financing their education. Funds are made available by the U.S. Department of Education, the State of California, the California State University System, the California Maritime Academy, and private lending institutions. Types of financial assistance include scholarships, grants, loans, and employment opportunities. Assistance can be in the form of need-based or non-need-based sources of financial aid.
To apply for financial aid, students should submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the basic application required for most federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Applications can be submitted beginning January 1 before the start of the academic year (i.e., January 1, 2013, for the 2013-14 school year). You can apply online at www.fafsa.gov. You can also request a paper application by calling 1-800-4FED-AID.

California Dream Act Application
The California Dream Act allows students certain students to apply for and receive state financial aid at California public and private colleges and private scholarships administered by California public colleges. Students must complete an affidavit to legalize their immigration status as soon as eligible, and have attended a California high school for a minimum of three years, graduated from a Californa high school or passed the CHSPE, and plan to enroll in an accredited and qualified California college or university. The free application is available at https://dream.csac.ca.gov.
